We’re excited to announce a unique opportunity in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University, offering a bespoke Higher & Degree Apprenticeship designed for individuals from all backgrounds. In this role, you’ll gain hands‑on experience from day one as a Technical Trainee. You’ll attend four 1‑week teaching blocks each year with Sheffield Hallam University, combining classroom and online learning, all while having your accommodation, meals and travel costs covered during university stays.

Over approximately 5 years, you will earn a Cert HE and BSc (Hons) Degree in Professional Practice in Technical Design and Management, recognised across the industry. You’ll work closely with almost every area of the business, so we look for people who enjoy solving problems, managing complex projects and who are natural communicators. As well as considering the homes themselves, you will liaise with consultants to help design roads, sewers and open spaces to help create the perfect environment for our customers, all whilst staying on top of the latest building regulations.

We believe that diverse perspectives drive innovation and success. Whether you’re entering the workforce for the first time, switching careers, or seeking an alternative to traditional higher education, we encourage you to apply. We value enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to excellence, regardless of your background.

You will be expected to:

  • Follow the Higher and Degree Apprenticeship Programme, including attendance at four 1‑week teaching blocks each year with Sheffield Hallam University for academic study
  • Continue to develop through reviews with your coach and mentor
  • Support the Architectural design team in preparing working drawing packages to meet Building Regulation and NHBC standards
  • Support the Engineering function to procure, instruct and deliver infrastructure and service designs for new developments to meet adoptable standards
  • Assist the Engineering team to project manage the delivery of new development infrastructure and throughout the lifetime of the development to final completion and adoption
  • Attend site project meetings, carry out site inspections and respond to site queries resolving any technical/construction issues in collaboration with technical colleagues
  • Liaise closely with all departments within the business to assist with the delivery of accurate and prompt responses to technical queries

To qualify for a Higher and Degree Apprenticeship you’ll need:

More experienced entrants without formal qualifications will be considered on merit, taking into account factors such as their work experience, previous qualifications or skills gained from the Armed Forces. On completion of the Higher Apprenticeship, you will automatically be enrolled onto the Degree Apprenticeship.
