Within the construction environment, the role involves buying materials, managing big projects, ensuring health and safety, and providing excellent customer service. You will support our construction sites across the UK, working on approximately 400 development projects that may range from new builds on brownfield sites to adaptive reuse of existing buildings.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly communicate with the Site Manager to stay updated on construction programme changes.
- Inform the Site Manager of any shortages of blocks, bricks, and silo mix to avoid delays.
- Check all deliveries for quality and correct quantity, recording defective or short deliveries with the Materials Controller.
- Store and label materials correctly in the supplied store areas.
- Load waste materials into correct site skips to manage waste control.
- Inform the Site Manager/Assistant Site Manager of any defective or damaged materials during collection or loading.
- Inspect the forklift daily for maintenance and record weekly inspections in the Plant Register.
- Keep the forklift clean, roadworthy and carry out routine maintenance.
- Inspect any plant attachments (e.g., road brush) weekly and record in the Plant Register.
- Adhere to safe working practices and report issues directly to the site manager.
- Ensure all materials loaded onto platforms allow for the loading bay gates to be closed at all times.
- Carry out labouring duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and use initiative appropriately.
- Previous experience on large domestic volume house‑building sites.
- Licensed FLT driver and full UK driving licence.
- Relevant Health and Safety awareness.
- Current CSCS or equivalent partner scheme card.
