The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation. This team is responsible for researching the best materials at the best cost. In terms of design, thereβs a wide variety of sites, many using existing buildings, each with unique challenges. The team also explores new materials and drives sustainability and value, all within evolving building and environmental legislation. Most team members have architectural or engineering backgrounds. Reporting to the Technical Director, your role will include:
- Assessing potential developments and producing detailed technical reports, including site visits with management, to ensure cost-effective land solutions.
- Managing the team daily (both internal and external) to provide professional services that enable other departments to meet their goals.
- Leading, motivating, developing, and appraising staff to ensure high performance and motivation.
- Coordinating production information according to a schedule to meet company targets for site completion.
- Providing drawings on a weekly basis and as needed.
- Establishing and maintaining quality standards and the company's good image.
- Ensuring designs meet BDW standards, considering building, marketing, economic factors, and external regulations, within project timelines.
- Producing engineering site feasibilities in collaboration with land and other departments, ensuring compliance with standards and business needs.
- Building good relationships with site staff and department heads to ensure proper construction and incorporate feedback for future improvements.
- Complying with health, safety, and environmental policies across the team.
- Implementing new ideas and methods to improve contributions and enhance the company's reputation.
- Developing relationships with local authorities to facilitate approvals and efficient, cost-effective house building.
To succeed, candidates should:
