The Commercial team deals with everything to do with cost-effective building, including quantity surveying, estimating, procurement and material buying. With a watching brief on choice of material, cost, customer satisfaction and sales, and other critical issues, our Commercial team – which comprises Estimators, Quantity Surveyors and Material Buyers – has one objective: to deliver best-quality homes, at the best possible cost. Their work is fundamental to our continued viability as a business and presents a fast-moving challenge that will exercise your creativity and commercial flair to the full.
Reporting to the Buyer/Senior Buyer/Buying Manager, you will assist and support with all buying tasks including the preparation of all procurement duties and exercises. You will be able to raise orders as needed and negotiate to achieve best value for the business. Be aware of new materials to the market which will assist the business.
Responsibilities
- Assist with processing orders from site requisitions
- Fill in and dispatch copy orders to relevant sites
- Fill in site requisitions after processing
- Assist with general enquiries from site regarding materials
- Deal with telephone calls to/from suppliers
- Issue drawings to various suppliers for quotations
- Assist with requesting quotations from suppliers for sites in order to obtain best price
- Fill in general mail in Buying department
- Assist with invoice and order queries
- Carry out the occasional site visit
- Assist with weekly reports, which include plant on hire and replacement orders
- Assist with compiling monthly reports, which include replacement orders, waste reports, bulk order costs and materials on site
- Raise office and Sales and Marketing orders
- Rebate Administrative ticking processes where appropriate
- Customer Care orders/trackers
What You’ll Need
- Experience of working in an admin role
- Must carry a valid CSCS card
- Basic understanding of budgets and ability to prove basic financial control
- Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with MS Office and Excel programs
- A good standard of written English
- Ability to generate professional correspondence unaided
- Self-disciplined, with demonstrably good time-management skills and the ability to manage a number of priorities
- Ability to multi-task, and work efficiently and accurately under pressure
- Team player and supportive of colleagues
- Professional and pleasant manner in dealing with internal and external customers and excellent telephone skills
