Planning Manager – Barratt Redrow
Gladman Developments, part of Barratt Redrow PLC, is looking for a Planning Manager based in Congleton, Cheshire. As part of our Planning & Projects team, you will work with the Planning Director and Senior Project Managers to secure planning permissions for strategic sites.
Responsibilities
- Draft and sign off reports to support planning applications, appeals and policy presentations.
- Support Planning Directors, Planning Managers and Senior Project Managers on planning matters.
- Review reports from external consultants, provide feedback and final sign‑off.
- Conduct research to develop strategies for site promotion, allocation and planning applications.
- Produce well‑researched reports and representations for site promotion and application submissions.
- Attend meetings and interviews with prospective landowners and agents to secure new sites.
- Set out planning and engagement strategies and ensure their implementation.
- Carry out site visits and meetings with landowners, agents and local authority officers.
- Manage workload, meet deadlines and delegate tasks effectively.
- Conduct public engagement, including formal consultation events where necessary.
- Assist junior planners and graduate planners with queries in a constructive manner.
- Coordinate and input into complex planning research tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Planning degree or equivalent and eligibility for RTPI membership.
- Extensive planning experience in consultancy or local authority settings.
- Experience instructing and negotiating Section 106 agreements.
- Experience promoting sites via the development plan and planning application process.
- Significant experience preparing reports for planning applications or Local Plan allocations.
- Demonstrated research project delivery.
- Ability to formulate and implement clear promotion strategies.
- Understanding of drivers for growth at local, regional and national levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate to varied audiences.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Strong relationship‑building skills.
- Strong work ethic.
