The Forklift Driver will manage and control the delivery of materials to the site and the distribution of the materials in accordance with the construction programme and with instructions from the Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager or Materials Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly communicate with Site Manager to keep up-to-date with any changes to the construction programme.
  • Advise Site Manager of any shortages of blocks and bricks and levels of silo mix to prevent construction programme delays due to material shortage.
  • Ensure all deliveries are checked for quality and the correct quantity when delivered and record any defective or short deliveries in conjunction with Materials Controller where applicable.
  • Store and label materials correctly in the store areas supplied (see standard compound set up).
  • Ensure that any waste materials are loaded into the correct site skips so waste control can be managed.
  • Advise the Site Manager/Assistant Site Manager of any defective or damaged materials when collecting or loading.
  • Ensure that the forklift is inspected daily for maintenance purposes and weekly inspections are recorded in the Plant Register.
  • Ensure the forklift is clean and roadworthy at all times and carry out routine maintenance.
  • Ensure that plant attachments such as road brush are inspected on a weekly basis and recorded in the Plant Register.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to at all times and report any issues directly to the site manager.
  • Ensure that all materials loaded out on platforms allow for the loading bay gates to be closed at all times.
  • Carry out labouring duties as and when required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative appropriately.
  • Previous experience of working on large domestic volume house‑building sites.
  • Hold an appropriate FLT driver’s licence and a full UK driving licence.
  • Have the relevant Health and Safety awareness.
  • Hold a current appropriate CSCS or partner scheme card.
