What you’ll be doing? Within the construction environment, you will buy materials, manage large projects, ensure health and safety and customer service across roughly 400 developments in towns and rural areas across the UK, handling projects from brownfield sites to adaptations of existing buildings such as old factories or disused hospitals. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will manage the construction of a development, including all pre‑ and post‑housebuilding works, ensuring health and safety targets, delivery to build programme quality, customer care, and cost control.

Ensure compliance with company health and safety standards, NHBC standards, building regulations and overall quality standards. Co‑ordinate labour and resources on site to deliver the build programme and schedule trades to optimise delivery. Manage material levels on site to guarantee the minimum amount of stock while meeting programme timelines and efficient labour use. Ensure all plots are built to the highest standard, complying with NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, range specifications and best practice. Conduct company‑directed quality control procedures and inspections at the correct timings, rectifying defects to avoid added cost, time delays, or reduced quality. Monitor and control production costs, approving payments to contractors and trades where appropriate. Initiate and attend plot inspections with the Local Building Inspector or NHBC, taking corrective action to ensure a minimum of RI’s/BRI’s. Carry out toolbox talks or similar on‑site briefings. Liaise proactively with internal departments, external suppliers and partners to achieve the build programme. Work with sales through regular sales/build meetings to ensure a smooth delivery of homes for customers. Deliver a high standard of site presentation at all times. Conduct New Home Tours with the Sales Advisor and customer(s) to demonstrate the home and resolve issues before Legal Completion. With support from the Contracts Manager, ensure the on‑site construction team is fully resourced, directed and trained. Set a good behavioural example in health and safety, organisation, conduct, quality of work and professionalism.

What You’ll Need To be successful in this role we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience managing key priorities within a build programme.
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver weekly targets through good organisation of the labour force and a team‑working ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on detailed explanation and compliance.
  • Demonstrated good leadership and assertive skills ensuring high‑quality delivery on site.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and prioritisation to meet changing business needs.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders and/or qualified to NVQ level 5 in Construction Management, or a tradesman with extensive experience across construction trades.
  • In‑depth knowledge of all aspects of construction and housebuilding, including health and safety, NHBC requirements and Building Regulations.
  • Comprehensive experience dealing with customers and potential customers, providing information, resolving issues and confirming company procedures.

  • Competitive bonus scheme.
  • Private medical cover – single coverage.
  • Company car or cash allowance.
  • Annual medical health assessment.
  • 26 days’ holiday (increasing by 1 day for every 3 years of continuous service, up to 29 days).
  • Choice of flexible benefits.
