Responsibilities
- Within the Construction environment, you will be involved in buying materials, managing large projects, ensuring health and safety, and providing customer service.
- You will handle the delivery of around 400 developments across the UK, including brownfield sites and adaptive reuse projects.
- Manage and monitor Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) performance in compliance with legal obligations and the Company’s SHE Management system.
- Support tendering for subcontractors and suppliers, monitor performance and provide feedback to the Commercial department.
- Ensure adequate resources for effective site start and source them.
- Monitor construction programme performance to meet targets and on‑time completion; conduct progress chasing and provide dates through Sales/Build meetings.
- Control additional costs for non‑productive and pre‑lender expenditure; participate in cost control meetings.
- Liaise with all departments to support the Site Manager and ensure information, materials and contractors are available.
- Monitor each construction stage to ensure a quality product.
- Liaise with purchasers to provide a suitable level of after‑completion service.
- Support the Site Manager in resourcing and directing on‑site construction teams, providing guidelines, training, development and workload organisation.
- Provide a professional interface with purchasers, external contacts and contractors.
- Assist the Construction Director in all matters relating to the efficient performance of the Construction Department.
- Set and achieve build programme targets, as advised by the Construction Director.
- Lead and develop the site management teams.
- Be a point of contact for recruitment of the site management team and support appropriate personnel through the interview process.
Qualifications
- Strong team motivator with drive and tenacity to achieve business goals.
- Proven senior construction industry experience with managerial background.
- Self‑confident, decisive, resilient and able to thrive under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders or NVQ Level 5 in Construction Management; extensive experience of construction trades (desirable).
- In‑depth knowledge of construction trade, Health and Safety, NHBC requirements and Building Regulations.
- Good knowledge, understanding and experience of Customer Care issues.
