The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Adviser supports the Head of SHE ensuring all Oregon Health & Safety standards are met across construction sites.

This is a remote working role travelling from site to site in the South Coast / Kent area. Flexibility of base required for applicants willing to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site audits to monitor Health & Safety standards, identify breaches and prepare improvement action lists.
  • Prepare audit reports and monitor completion of required improvement actions.
  • Induct new erectors into the “Oregon Way”, ensuring understanding of risks, methods and standards.
  • Check credentials of erectors on site against minimum standards.
  • Deliver training and toolbox talks to educate teams on required standards.
  • Complete accident investigation reports on behalf of Head of SHE.
  • Prepare and amend RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) on behalf of Head of SHE.
  • Assist Head of SHE with documentation, administration, training and projects, including Health & Safety work in Oregon Timber Frame factories (Selkirk and Derby).

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Higher education or above.
  • Membership of IOSH.
  • NEBOSH Construction certified (minimum).
  • Valid driving licence and use of a personal car for business use, insured for business.

Essential Skills

  • Self‑motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and related software (e.g., iAuditor, SharePoint).
  • Good communication skills; able to engage with teams, colleagues, senior management and customers.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet role demands, including varying hours/days and travel.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge of joinery and timber frame erect sequences.
  • Experience supervising or managing people.
  • Strong grasp of Health & Safety practices on site (risk assessments, accident investigations, induction, training).
  • Aware of working with cranes for timber frame kit erection.

Qualifications

  • Membership of IOSH.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • CSCS card – professional level.
