Our Company Barracare operates within the residential children’s homes sector. The organisation provides vulnerable children care at the highest level and has an ambitious growth strategy to achieve this on a regional scale. Our homes are based in Lancashire in the town of Brierfield, and Calderdale in the town of Todmorden; they accommodate up to four children with challenging behaviours and emotional difficulties.

The Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our children’s home. The position involves close collaboration with the Registered Manager to create a nurturing and supportive environment for the children in our care. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing administrative and managerial tasks related to the daily operation of the home
  • Providing direct interaction with young people and monitoring individual care plans, health needs, and educational progress
  • Co‑ordinating with external agencies and other professionals involved in the children’s lives

We are looking for a caring, sociable, and energetic individual. The role is demanding and requires resilience and patience. Essential qualifications and qualities are:

  • Experience working with young people in a similar residential setting (minimum 2 years)
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure, satisfactory references, and evidence of the qualities to succeed in this sector
  • Resilience, patience, and a compassionate approach to children with challenging behaviours and emotional difficulties

Preferred qualifications include a Level 3 Children & Young People’s Workforce Qualification and a Driving Licence.
