We are looking to recruit an experienced Level 3 HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in the Glasgow area. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in high‑quality workmanship, can diagnose faults confidently, and enjoys working within a fast‑paced, professional environment.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (higher negotiable for experience)

Hours: Full-time, permanent

The Role

  • HGV maintenance — routine servicing, inspections and safety checks
  • Diagnostics & fault finding — mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Repairs & component replacement — engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension, steering
  • Tachograph calibration (if qualified)
  • MOT preparation — ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards
  • Breakdown support — occasional roadside diagnostics and repair
  • Workshop documentation — completing job cards, inspection sheets and service reports
  • Adhering to H&S procedures — maintaining a safe and compliant working environment

Key Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
  • Strong background working on HGVs, LGVs or commercial vehicles
  • Confident diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with gearbox repairs, engine rebuilds and major component overhauls
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence beneficial but not essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high workshop standards
