We are looking to recruit an experienced Level 3 HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in the Glasgow area. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in high‑quality workmanship, can diagnose faults confidently, and enjoys working within a fast‑paced, professional environment.
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (higher negotiable for experience)
Hours: Full-time, permanent
The Role
- HGV maintenance — routine servicing, inspections and safety checks
- Diagnostics & fault finding — mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Repairs & component replacement — engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension, steering
- Tachograph calibration (if qualified)
- MOT preparation — ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards
- Breakdown support — occasional roadside diagnostics and repair
- Workshop documentation — completing job cards, inspection sheets and service reports
- Adhering to H&S procedures — maintaining a safe and compliant working environment
Key Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
- Strong background working on HGVs, LGVs or commercial vehicles
- Confident diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Experience with gearbox repairs, engine rebuilds and major component overhauls
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence beneficial but not essential)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high workshop standards
