We’re looking for enthusiastic Pool Lifeguard Team Members to join our Leisure Team at Your Space Hoyland.

As a Pool Lifeguard, you will play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for all our customers. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the centre, communicating effectively, sharing ideas and supporting one another to deliver the best possible experience. We are looking for team players who are proactive, customer‑focused and always willing to lend a hand when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pool users and ensure a safe environment at all times.
  • Carry out lifeguard duties in accordance with NPLQ and site procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and administer first aid when required.
  • Set up and maintain poolside equipment.
  • Complete routine poolside checks and safety inspections.
  • Support cleanliness and presentation of the poolside, changing areas and surrounding areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with enquiries.
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive and friendly atmosphere for all visitors.
  • Support swimming lessons, pool programmes and centre activities where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the centre operates safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond confidently in emergency situations.
  • A positive, proactive and team‑focused attitude.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness.
  • Desirable: previous experience working within a leisure, sport or customer service environment.
  • Desirable: First Aid qualification.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of customers and communities.
