About the Post

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic Systems Support Specialist. You will provide technical expertise to support business critical applications and be responsible for their maintenance and upgrades. We’re looking for someone with drive and ambition who can support Systems Leads within the team to manage P1 critical incidents, deliver application enhancements and who embraces AI technologies. You’ll have line management responsibility for System Support Officers within the team, setting performance targets and monitoring progress against agreed quality and performance criteria. To hit the ground running previous experience of local authority business critical systems would be an advantage with the ability to carry out routine configuration, installation, upgrades and reconfiguration of database and related products.

You will:

  • Provide technical expertise for the support of business critical applications of the Council
  • Provide technical leadership across all aspects of business critical systems, demonstrating strong problem‑solving skills
  • Respond to incidents and service requests across applications in a timely manner.
  • Be responsible for application upgrades/developments and take responsibility for integrity of testing and acceptance activities.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Level 5 qualification, or if you do not have a Level 5 qualification then extensive experience of supporting business critical applications including the management of P1 critical incidents.
  • Line management experience with System Support Officers.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to use AI technologies.

Working Hours

37‑hour working week on a flexi‑time scheme (7 am and 7 pm) with service cover: 9 am‑5 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am‑4:30 pm Friday. Hybrid working approach with office at Westgate, outreach buildings and work from home option.
