We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic Systems Lead. You’ll have responsibility for managing the applications support or development function and associated team providing in-depth capability for delivering or developing business critical applications and support services directly to system users and service delivery functions.

We’re looking for someone with drive and ambition who can support local authority systems to lead on key functions within Children’s Social Care & Children’s Education. You’ll have line management responsibility for System Support Specialists within the team setting performance targets and monitoring progress against agreed quality and performance criteria.

To hit the ground running, previous experience of local authority business critical systems would be an advantage with the ability to carry out routine configuration, installation, upgrades and reconfiguration of database and related products. This System Lead post sits in our Technology section where you will be supporting applications with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Working with colleagues, suppliers, and partner agencies you’ll deliver real value adding solutions.

Your management skills should be on par with your excellent IT skills in this role; we’re looking for someone who can effectively lead and develop a keen and enthusiastic team.

You will:

  • Take lead responsibility for business critical applications of the Council including Application Lifecycle Management
  • Provide technical leadership across all aspects of business critical systems, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills
  • Respond to incidents and service requests across applications in a timely manner
  • Be responsible for application upgrades/developments and take responsibility for integrity of testing and acceptance activities

To join us, you’ll need a relevant Level 6 qualification and preferably leadership and management training. If you do not have a Level 6 qualification then you should have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject and extensive experience of supporting business critical applications.

We currently operate a hybrid working approach where you’ll have access to Westgate (our main town centre office), various outreach buildings and the opportunity to work from home. We operate a 37-hour working week on a flexi-time scheme (7am-7pm) and coordinate with one another to maintain a level of service cover between the hours of 9am-5pm Mon-Thu and 9am-4:30pm on Fridays.
