We are looking for passionate and skilled Health Visitors to join our Public Health Nursing Service in Barnsley. In this role, you will deliver the Healthy Child Programme, providing evidence‑based care that promotes health, reduces inequalities, and safeguards children, young people and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with families to assess health needs, plan and implement interventions, and provide support for those with complex needs.
  • Manage risk, undertake safeguarding responsibilities, and contribute to multi‑agency working to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Lead public health initiatives within the community, mentor colleagues and students, and ensure high standards of clinical governance.
  • Supervise staff and develop innovative approaches to care, particularly for complex cases.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme, safeguarding policies and clinical governance.
  • Travel flexibly as required by the role and support a high‑performing council environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) with a Level 6 or higher qualification.
  • Experience working in a community setting, delivering public health programmes and safeguarding vulnerable children and families.
  • Significant post‑qualification experience for experienced practitioners, including mentoring and leading others.
  • Strong evidence‑based practice skills, communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously, plan and prioritise effectively, and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
