Overview

In this role you will lead the development and ongoing operation of three new children's residential homes within Barnsley’s Sufficiency Strategy. You will shape the service model, recruit and line-manage staff, and collaborate with partner agencies to ensure high-quality care. You will oversee budgets, contracts, and performance systems, and represent the homes at internal and external forums. This is a greenfield leadership role with a strong focus on sustainable service improvement and multi-agency delivery. You will drive a values-led, cross-functional team to transform outcomes for children in care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and line management across three residential homes from inception through registration and live operations
  • Lead development and recruitment for staffing including Registered Managers
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and stakeholders within the sufficiency programme
  • Represent the homes in internal and external forums
  • Manage budgets, contracts and performance systems to ensure service standards
  • Serve on the Out of Hours Senior Management Rota
  • Establish the operating model and team structure for new homes

Key requirements

  • Degree level education or equivalent and a qualified, registered social worker
  • Post-qualifying leadership or management qualification (ideally)
  • Experience in operational management at team-manager level in a large organisation delivering children, young people and families services
  • Experience managing complex budgets and financial processes
  • Experience planning or delivering services in a multi-agency/commissioning context
  • Track record of leading and motivating teams to deliver sustainable service improvement
  • Strong knowledge of child services legislation, policy framework, and Ofsted registration requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders and resolve conflicts at senior level
