Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will provide supervision for students during the midday break, helping to maintain a safe, positive, and orderly environment. The role is vital in supporting the welfare, behaviour and wellbeing of our students throughout lunchtime periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise students both within the school building and across the school grounds during the midday break.
• Monitor and support students in designated dining areas while they eat their lunch, including assisting with feeding programmes where required.
• Maintain cleanliness in dining areas by clearing spillages and debris from tables, chairs, and floors between sittings, ensuring facilities are ready for continued use.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to any incidents that arise and report concerns regarding student behaviour, welfare, or safety using the school's reporting procedures.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• The ability to maintain good conduct, discipline, and the overall wellbeing of students.
• An understanding of the needs of children and young people across a range of age groups.
• The ability to respond calmly, quickly, and effectively to situations as they arise.
• Professionalism in maintaining appropriate relationships with students, colleagues, teachers, and other school staff.
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• A willingness to follow instructions and established procedures.
• The ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience of supervising children and young people aged 2 to 19 years.
• Evidence of basic competence in English.
