Key Responsibilities
  • Handle general civil litigation matters, including general civil claims, ASB possessions, rent arrears, injunctions, access for electrical inspections, warrant applications, and closure orders.
  • Cross‑cutting work with the Litigation team dealing with regulatory and environmental prosecutions and licensing matters.
  • Review case files, evaluate evidence, analyse witness statements, and draft court applications, orders and other associated documentation.
  • Attend court and tribunal proceedings, conduct advocacy including contested hearings, and instruct and brief counsel where required.
  • Work closely with internal colleagues, including Safer Communities, Public Health and Communities teams, to provide advice, support and training.
  • Liaise with external agencies and partners as required, including Berneslai Homes under our Service Level Agreement.
Qualifications
  • Lawyer with experience in civil and/or criminal law.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to self‑develop and grow in litigation practice areas.
  • Enthusiastic about the work done and willing to gain exposure in wider litigation practice areas and enhance advocacy skills.
