About the Travel Assistance Service
The Travel Assistance Service is a lifeline for nearly 1,000 children and adults across Barnsley. We are recruiting Passenger Assistants to provide essential travel assistance for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, ensuring safe journeys between home, school, or college, as well as transport to adult day care facilities when required.
Responsibilities
- Provide essential travel assistance for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- Ensure safe journeys between home, school, or college.
- Transport adults to day care facilities when required.
Working Hours
Approximately 18 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during school term time on split shifts covering journeys from home to school and from school to home. Term time only: approximately 39 weeks of the year.
Location
Home to School Depot, John Street, Barnsley.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Speak English to an appropriate standard.
- Must hold an Enhanced DBS Check.
- If you are currently living overseas or have lived overseas in the last five years, you will need to apply for an overseas criminal records check from the country or countries you have lived in.
- Show empathy, patience, and a professional, polite manner when supporting children and adults with special needs.
