The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.
The successful candidate will be required to be available outside of services normal working hours as part of a standby rota to respond to out of hours service needs. A standardised standby payment will be made in respect of these duties. Please ensure you are prepared to start work with all the necessary legal documents, such as a valid visa, relevant to the type of work you will be undertaking. Our organisation does not possess a Home Office licence and, as a result, is unable to provide sponsorship for anyone seeking a visa as a skilled or temporary migrant worker. This role is defined as a safety critical role within the Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure. You must therefore be willing to comply in accordance with this procedure. Pensions Regulations have provisions to reduce pension payments in certain circumstances of those who return to work within local government service. If you are in receipt of a pension upon commencing employment with the authority, this may affect your pension entitlements and you should therefore seek advice from the relevant Pensions Authority.
About the Post
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Arborist to complement the council’s Arboriculture Team in delivering an effective and efficient Arboricultural service offer for Neighbourhood Services. Reporting to the Arboriculture Team Leader, you will carry out a full range of arboricultural duties both on the ground and at height. You will be able to work to extremely high standards in both safety and quality, and will be instrumental in helping to deliver the 1st class Arboriculture service demanded by the council and its stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a full range of arboricultural duties on the ground and at height, including use of chainsaws, dismantling of trees, felling of mature trees, working at height from a rope and harness, aerial rescue in emergencies, and use of MEWPs.
- Work in all weather conditions, undertake strenuous duties, and meet targets and deadlines while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Take direction from the Team Leader and work independently when required.
- Provide out of hours standby emergency cover for tree related emergencies.
- Interpret plans, drawings and briefing notes and communicate effectively with service users, the public, council officers and ward members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified in a range of arboricultural disciplines suitable for ground and height work.
- Experience of working in all weather conditions and performing tasks at height with ropes, harnesses and MEWPs.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet targets, and operate independently when necessary.
- Willingness to participate in a Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure due to safety critical nature of the role.
