Join our dedicated Patient Experience and Voluntary Services Team and make a real difference in your community. We are looking for compassionate and reliable volunteer drivers to help deliver essential medication and equipment directly to patients' homes, ensuring they receive the care they need when they need it. This role is vital in supporting patients who may be unable to collect items themselves, helping improve their experience and wellbeing.
You will need:
- A full, clean driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to travel across Barnsley and occasionally to other local sites.
- Good communication skills and a caring attitude.

Main duties of the job:
- Volunteer Drivers play a crucial role in supporting patient discharge and continuity of care by delivering urgent medications and equipment directly to patients' homes.
- This service helps reduce delays in discharge and supports the Trust’s commitment to excellent patient experience and efficient patient flow.
- Reliability in collecting and delivering items at scheduled times (typically 4pm and 6pm, Monday to Sunday).
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive items with discretion.
- Willingness to adapt to changing schedules or requirements.
- Calm response to unexpected situations (e.g. delays, emergencies, route changes).
- Clear, polite, and professional communication with patients, carers, and staff.
- Commitment to upholding the Trust’s values and behaviours.
- Presentable appearance, wearing name badge and uniform.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake mandatory and role-specific training.
