Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer a Clinical Fellow / Locally Employed Doctor (LED) role aimed at anaesthetists who are passionate about their career and looking to join a close-knit, dynamic and experienced team to deliver anaesthetic and critical care services. The role is ideally suited to those trainees looking to develop their portfolio in order to re-enter training to achieve CCT or embark on a CESR programme. If required, the successful applicant will also benefit from the support from the College Tutor and a named Educational Supervisor to help achieve CT3/4 equivalent (stage 1 top up) training requirements where applicable. All Trust appointed doctors are required to engage with continuing professional development guided by the Royal College of Anaesthesia. There is also a programme of mandatory training which all relevant staff must complete as required.

Main duties of the job

  • The postholder would be expected to anaesthetise and deliver all aspects of peri-operative care.
  • The will also participate in the middle grade on-call rota.

Person Specification

Skills and Aptitude

  • Passion for teaching/training other colleagues
  • Ability to cover labour ward out of hours and/or join the middle grade rota covering ICU on-call

Qualifications

  • MBBS, MBChB or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration with no restrictions or conditions to practice
  • Primary FRCA Certificates for; ATLS/ETC APLS/EPALS ALS/Equivalent
  • Other relevant courses
  • Evidence of commitment to medical education including further qualifications

Experience

  • Completed (or en-route to completing by time of appointment) 2 years core training in Anaesthesia (including attainment of IAC and IACOA) with at least 3 months Intensive Care experience in the UK
  • Other relevant training e.g. A&E, Third World work
