4440 - Lead Clinical Pharmacist/Clinical Educator in Barnsley

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and knowledgeable clinical pharmacist who has a keen interest in education and training to help shape the workforce of the future. This joint role is between Barnsley NHS Foundation Trust and The University of Sheffield. The Clinical Educator will be involved in the design, development and delivery of high-quality clinical practice-based teaching alongside working as part of the Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust pharmacy team to provide a clinical service at an advanced level to a range of wards within the Trust.

The successful applicant must be a registered pharmacist with a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent), and with experience in education and training. Significant recent post-registration hospital experience is essential. Alongside all of our other Pharmacists you will contribute to the provision of the remote out of hours On-Call Service as well as working late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. The postholder will be substantively appointed by Barnsley Hospital NHSFT with an annualised agreement for working 3 days a week at Barnsley Hospital NHSFT and 2 days a week working at The University of Sheffield.

Main duties of the job

• To support and deliver the aims and vision of the BHNFT Pharmacy Department and The University of Sheffield (TUoS) MPharm course.
• To work with the Pharmacy team and the Head of Pharmacy Practice to design, develop, deliver and assess practice and clinical teaching within TUoS MPharm programme.
• To contribute to the development, co-ordination and quality assurance of experiential learning (placements) within the MPharm and at BHNFT.
• To deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to a clinical in accordance with the objectives set by the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leaders to ensure safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs.
• To contribute to the multidisciplinary team as a clinical practitioner, championing medicines optimisation.
• To deliver relevant education, training, mentorship and clinical supervision.
• To participate in audits related to medicine management and ward services.
• To contribute to the pharmacy departmental services including late nights, weekends, on-call and bank holidays.

Experience

• Significant post-registration experience as a Clinical Pharmacist in a patient-centered role to include specialist level, including: Assessing patient needs, Devising and delivering care plans & Experience of supervision of others.
• Experience of mentoring/coaching.
• Good clinical knowledge and understanding of common disease states and their management.
• Experience of planning, delivering, and evaluating pharmacy education and training programmes and/or training of other healthcare professionals.
• Experience of working with educational institutions.
• Experience of leading/developing audit or research resulting in a change in practice.
• Evidence of developing evidence based prescribing guideline and policies.

Qualifications:

• Current Registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience/qualification.
• Independent prescriber and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or willing to work towards after appointment.
• Member of the Royal College.
• Teaching qualification e.g. FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or willing to work towards after appointment.
