An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to recruit an activity coordinator to our acute medical/stroke wards. We are looking for enthusiastic experienced individuals to join our friendly teams. The activity coordinator is a person with knowledge and experience of patient social interaction who will engage with patients, staff and visitors to create a positive social environment. The activity co-ordinator is a fully integrated member of the team.

Main duties of the job:
- The activity co-ordinator will organise, initiate and supervise social interaction with patients.
- The postholder will carry out assigned duties under the supervision of the nurse in charge of the ward.
- The postholder will undertake a range of duties including:
- Arrange individual activities for patients, as appropriate, in addition to group activities.
- Provide 1:1 social contact with patients according to the individual patient ability.
- Ensure there is an available range of activities and promote use with patient interaction on the ward (e.g. jigsaws, books, crafts, bingo, quizzes etc.).
- Utilise electronic resources available with individuals and groups.
- Organise social events on the unit to include patients, relatives, staff and visiting professionals.
- Assist with fundraising.
- Complete procedures (SOPs) that do not require a registered practitioner to undertake.
- Document that SOPs have been checked by signing the ward activity co-ordinator file.
- Dealing with any issues that arise from SOPs checks & reporting any faults at ward level.
- Maintaining the SOPs file in good order, including the safe custody of completed sheets.
- Ensuring the ongoing cleanliness of the ward after activities in conjunction with the ward team, including liaising with domestic staff where appropriate.
- Carrying out any other duties that may be required for the post.
- Take a lead role with the unit leaders to improve patient experience.
- Work on own initiative and manage workload.
