The Band 6 Clinical Educator is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care by leading and facilitating education, training, and professional development across the multidisciplinary team (MDT) within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). The post holder will foster a positive learning environment, ensuring staff have the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Main duties of the job
- Planning, coordinating, and delivering clinical education programmes for nursing and support staff within the AMU.
- Providing ongoing clinical support, supervision, coaching, and mentorship to promote professional development, competency, and adherence to national and local standards.
- Maintaining oversight of mandatory and role-specific training compliance, monitoring staff competency records, and ensuring training documentation is accurate, current, and aligned with organisational requirements.
- Identifying learning needs through appraisal outcomes, incident reviews, audit findings, and service priorities, developing targeted educational interventions to address gaps in practice.
- Leading and participating in clinical audits, analysing audit data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and presenting findings to the multidisciplinary team.
- Working collaboratively with clinical leaders and governance teams to support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of quality improvement (QI) initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, patient safety, and service effectiveness.
