This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3; apprentices should note that the salary would be the Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75% max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

An opportunity has arisen for an ICT Support Assistant to work within the ICT Service Desk team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term basis. The ICT Department is primarily concerned with providing repair, maintenance of networking, telecommunications, desktop, virtual desktop and server systems, support and implementation for the Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job:

  • The post holder will be responsible for providing the ICT Help Desk function. This will include the provision of a call logging function via telephone and drop-in.
  • Other duties include some remote fixes, the processing of procurement of IT equipment to the Trust, user account creation and maintenance, smart card maintenance, asset recording, advice to users, and also providing general administration duties.

This post requires a highly developed customer focus and the ability to work on your own initiative.

Person Specification

Experience:

  • Experience of a call logging system, remote and face-to-face support.
  • Experience in a busy IT Helpdesk environment or contact centre.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 Grade C or equivalent GCSEs (including English Language and ICT)
  • NVQ Level 2
  • Have passed or be working towards Microsoft Desktop Support certifications in Windows 7 and/or Windows 10.
  • Working towards a degree in an IT related subject.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Keyboard proficiency
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to accept direction
  • Ability to work under pressure

Knowledge and Awareness:

  • A working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft products
  • Experience supporting NHS Mail and Teams
  • Able to manage user accounts in Active Directory
