Are you a compassionate & motivated experienced Nurse / ODP looking to thrive on a Day Surgery Unit as a Team Leader/Sister? We are excited to offer this opportunity in our Day Surgery Unit at Barnsley Hospital and also provide staff to a newly opened Ophthalmology theatre based off site on a rotational basis. We have an admissions area, 2 Theatres & 1 Minor Operation room, a stage 1 recovery and a stage 2 recovery/discharge area within Day Surgery. You will provide safe, high-quality care to patients in the perioperative environment: admitting patients pre-operatively, working in theatre, recovering patients (post-PACU), and safely discharging patients (you will be expected to work in at least 2 areas of the Unit).

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be expected to lead a shift safely and effectively, deputise and take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the Lead Practitioner. The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other members of staff, students and may undertake research and clinical audits on the unit. As a Team Leader, you will be expected to support and supervise staff and students in the department and act as a role model for others. You will be expected to uphold high standards of care and maintain a safe and effective service in line with the NMC / HCPC Code and the Trust values.
The post holder will have multiple specialist skills pertaining to Day Surgery for managing patient admissions and discharges, giving patients advice and dealing with relatives in crisis situations.
