1743 – Day Surgery Theatre Practitioner (ODP)
Positions available – x1 Newly Qualified ODP and x1 Experienced ODP.
Toundertake duties as a Theatre practitioner in Barnsley Day Surgery Unit. We have 2 theatres & 2 minor ops roomscovering Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Oral, T&O, Dermatologyand General Surgery in both adults and children. We will shortly be opening an Ophthalmologytheatre in the Alhambra Centre, so there will be a requirement for the DaySurgery team to staff this.
Providingsensitive and professional care at all times. This post will be for an OperatingDepartment Practitioner to work in anaesthetics, scrub and a possibility towork in recovery. To act as a role model, demonstrate own activities tonew/less experience employees.
Liaisewith the ward and other departments and all members of the multidisciplinaryteam in the care and treatment of patients. Provide holistic care utilisingpersuasive, empathic and reassurance skills where necessary from admission todischarge in the department. Assess, plan and implement care of the patientseeking advice when required and taking appropriate action.
Towork within organisational policies, standard operating procedures andguidelines. To comply with health, safety and security requirements of self andothers. To contribute to the development of services and quality improvements.The post holder will ensure they understand their responsibilities with regardto safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
Main duties of the job
The main duty is to adhere to HCPC/NMC and AFPP guidelines of goodPractice supporting safe and effective surgical and anaesthetic care.
Working proactively within the MDT to achieve positive patient outcomesand satisfaction. Contribute to quality improvement. Developand enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self. Promote bestevidence-based practice within own scope of practice. Apply legislation,policies and procedures correctly. Respect the patients dignity, privacy,wishes and beliefs.
Our theatre provides safe care and support to people requiring electivesurgical care. The role involves both scrub and anaesthetic practise.
