Join Our Team as a Front of House Retail Volunteer! Do you want to make a real difference to people and families when they need support the most? Barnsley Hospice is looking for enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers to join our team and support the vital work we do across our services.
Our volunteers play an essential role in helping us provide specialist care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. By giving your time, skills and enthusiasm, you will help us continue delivering care that truly matters.
About the Role
As a Front of House Retail Volunteer, you may support the hospice in a variety of ways depending on the role. This could include:
- Working alongside the front of house supervisor welcoming donators, receiving donations from donators following The Retail Hub guidance on donation policy and Health & Safety regulations
- Quality checking, suitability and control of donations and separating donations
- Any loose stock to be put into suitable container ready for stacking into donation cage
- Stock to be identified and stacked in relevant donation cage / storage area
- Movement of full cages into back of warehouse for processing and sales
- Having an awareness of Gift Aid
Full training and guidance will be provided, and you will be supported by our friendly team throughout your volunteering journey.

Please note: all applicants must be over 18 to volunteer at the hospice and retail hub. This vacancy will be left open until we recruit sufficient volunteers for the role.
Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative and end of life care to hundreds of local people and those close to them each year. Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for people living with a life-limiting illness, whilst supporting those close to them during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills we offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care. The hospice currently employs about 100 people and has a team of volunteers, based both at the hospice and within our retail hub.
