Walsall Football Club are looking for a skilled and highly organised Training Ground Chef to support the delivery of exceptional food and nutrition at our Training Ground facility.
This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who thrives in a professional kitchen environment and takes pride in producing high-quality meals. Working closely with the Head Chef, Men's First Team and Lead Strength & Conditioning coach, you will play a key role in ensuring players, colleagues and guests receive outstanding food and service every day.
The role involves a significant amount of lone working, with additional support available during peak service periods.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, development and updating of innovative and cost-effective menus.
- Prepare, cook and present food to consistently high standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health regulations at all times.
- Maintain excellent kitchen standards, ensuring all workspaces remain clean, organised and safe.
- Assist with leading and motivating kitchen staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring safe and correct usage.
- Proactively resolve food quality, service or operational issues.
- Build positive relationships with players, colleagues and guests, delivering an outstanding dining experience.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach to ensure meals meet nutritional and dietary requirements.
- Maintain accurate kitchen records, temperature logs and due diligence documentation.
- Assist with stock control and inventory management, including ordering supplies when required.
- Contribute to a positive, professional and supportive working environment.
About The Candidate
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar chef role.
- NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent experience).
- Excellent cooking and knife skills.
- Leadership experience or the ability to lead and motivate others.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Flexible approach to work, including availability to work weekends and public holidays when required to support matchday fixtures.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and personal learning.
