About the Team:
Our Coaching Team is passionate about developing talent at all levels, from our youngest Academy members to the first team. Our holistic coaching philosophy emphasizes technical skills, tactical awareness, mental resilience, and sportsmanship.
We prioritize open communication with players and their families, providing regular updates on training progress and development opportunities. Join us in elevating the standard of coaching at Sunderland AFC, where every player is encouraged to grow, excel, and love the game!
The Opportunity:
You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating coaching sessions in line with the weekly schedule, with a strong emphasis on individual player development. This includes sourcing and analyzing video clips of players and groups, ensuring alignment with their learning objectives in collaboration with the analysis department. Providing clear, constructive feedback to support player progression is essential. You will oversee trialists within the coaching group, offering evaluations and feedback to inform signing or release decisions. Additionally, all relevant data must be accurately recorded on the Football Intelligence Platform. Throughout, player retention remains a key priority.
About The Candidate
What we ask for:
Maintain consistent communication with the Academy Manager, Head of Coaching, and Cell Lead regarding each player\’s development. Regularly monitor, evaluate, and provide feedback on all Foundation Phase players to support succession planning. Strive to create a growth-focused environment that promotes excellence. Participate actively in relevant meetings and contribute to ongoing discussions. Identify development areas and collaborate with the Academy Senior Management and Multi-Disciplinary teams to ensure performance standards are met and improved. Take ownership of monitoring and driving core development processes within the Foundation Phase to ensure meaningful progression for all players.
