As the First Team Assistant Performance Analyst you will report directly to the First Team Head of Performance Analyst. You will use video and data to develop how Sheffield Wednesday analyse the Club’s game model and implement that in order to critically analyse upcoming opposition, along with applying this to individual performance development.

General Description

  • Work with the First Team Manager and coaching staff to ensure that the game is seen through the same lens and then analysed to give this vision.
  • Use data and video to analyse and find trends to identify/assist in a match plan for the upcoming opposition.
  • Deliver pre-match, live and post-match analysis; liaising with the First Team coaching staff to ensure all analytical insights are provided.
  • Build databases, using both data and video; based on our opponents – looking for trends and themes across the division, such as goals, set plays and style of play.
  • Build best practice databases of elite players, using similar trends and tactics as SWFC philosophy/game model.
  • Ensure pre-match analysis of all First Team matches are carried out to the highest standard using all available resources to produce match insights for the First Team Staff and any other relevant members of staff.
  • Ensure the backup of all live match and post-match analysis presentations and documentation to designated storage devices, ensuring these are always kept up to date.
  • Ensure own CPD is up to date, looking for ways to improve skill set and personal development.
  • Any other such duties as reasonably assigned by First Team staff.
  • Adhere to SWFC policies and procedures at all times i.e. H&S, Code of Conduct, ICT social media.
  • Adhere to Safeguarding practices including the reporting of concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
  • Support a culture that treats everyone fairly and with respect in line with the Clubs EDI commitment statement.
  • Professionally represent SWFC at all times.

About The Candidate

  • Qualifications: Master’s degree in Performance Analysis or similar.
  • Minimum UEFA B coaching License.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a performance analysis role within a football team environment at an elite level and/or experience of coaching elite players.

Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional level on analysis software i.e. Hudl Sportscode, Studio, Matchtracker.
  • Good understanding of the use of data (IMPECT, OPTA, Statsbomb) and Second Spectrum.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness related to sensitive club-related material.
  • Must be able to handle confidential, privileged and/or sensitive information carefully and with sensitivity.
  • Ability to react quickly and positively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organised.
  • IT skills in Microsoft packages i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
