Birmingham City FC are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Safety & Security Manager to join our team. This role is central to ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of all staff, players, visitors, and supporters across our stadium and training grounds.
You will support the Stadium Safety Officer in delivering the highest standards of matchday safety and oversee the club’s wider security strategy. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-orientated, and confident in liaising with stakeholders across multiple agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety:
Be fully familiar with the matchday commitments of the Safety Officer and deputise in their absence (subject to Safety Advisory Group approval).
Ensure compliance with theGeneral Safety Certificate,Spectator Safety Policy, andGuide to Safety at Sports Grounds.
Liaise with regulatory bodies (Local Authorities, SGSA, Police, Fire, Ambulance, etc.) for all stadium matches (men’s, women’s, and academy).
Prepare and manage all matchday administration, including IT platforms and event paperwork.
Monitor health and safety during events, escalating issues to the Safety Officer as required.
Assist in steward recruitment, training, deployment, and performance management.
Manage stewarding arrangements, ensuring sufficient staffing and accurate records for payroll.
Lead pre-match briefings, post-match debriefings, and incident reporting processes.
Monitor, manage, and escalate incidents via theHalo system.
Ensure post-event feedback is captured and incorporated into future planning.
Oversee rostering through theUbeya portaland liaise with Chief Steward/Stand Managers on operational delivery.
Security:
Lead on the security strategy as directed by the Operations Director & Head of Safety & Security.
Act as the daily point of contact with the club’s non-matchday security provider.
Oversee security provision acrossSt Andrew’s Stadium,EPIC, andKPC training grounds.
Implement robust site assignment protocols and ensure efficient incident reporting.
Conduct weekly due diligence visits and regular security audits, following up on actions.
Host monthly KPI meetings with providers and club management.
Manage the club’s24-hour in-house security duty and rostering portal.

NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety (or working towards).
Strong knowledge of spectator and crowd safety management.
Excellent planning, written, and verbal communication skills.
Fully computer literate (Microsoft Office and IT systems).
Organised, flexible, and able to prioritise under pressure.
