To support the delivery of the Club’s Pre-Academy programme, delivering high-quality, age-appropriate coaching and games that reflect and promote the Club’s playing and coaching philosophy.
The role will contribute to identifying and developing young players with the potential to progress through the Academy pathway, while ensuring players experience a safe, positive and enjoyable learning environment.
Main Duties:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, age-appropriate coaching sessions for U6, U7 & U8 players.
- Coach and support sessions on Monday evenings, as well as the Friday games programme.
- Lead or support small-sided games and festivals as part of the Pre-Academy Games Programme.
- Provide a player centred coaching approach, encouraging creativity, decision-making, ball mastery and confidence.
- Support the development of individual players through regular observation, feedback and communication to both players and parents.
- Work closely with the Lead Pre-Academy Coach and other Pre-Academy coaches to ensure consistency across the programme.
- Observe and monitor player development, providing regular feedback on players’ progress, strengths and areas for development.
- Liaise with the Academy Recruitment Department regarding the progress and potential of Pre-Academy players and trialists.
- Develop positive relationships with local grassroots clubs, schools and coaches to support the identification and development of young players.
- Ensure all coaching activity reflects the Club’s playing philosophy, values and development principles.
- Create a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all players at training and games.
- Report any welfare, safeguarding or player-related concerns to the appropriate member of Academy staff.
- Ensure all injuries are reported promptly to the Medical Department.
- Attend Academy coach education, in-service training and CPD as required by the Football Club.
- Maintain appropriate coaching and Emergency First Aid qualifications.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required by the Lead Pre-Academy Coach, Foundation Phase Lead, Academy Manager, Head of Coach Development.
