Doncaster Rovers Academy is looking to recruit two Coach Development Analysts on an internship basis for the season. The Analysts will work closely with the Assistant Head of Academy & Head of Coach Development and Academy Coach Developer to enhance player and coach development at Doncaster Rovers Academy. Using performance analysis, they will guide coaching practices around session design, coaching behaviors, reflective practice, and overall session improvement.
The role focuses on holistic coach development, ensuring coaching practices align with the academy philosophy. Emphasizing data-driven development, performance analysis will underpin efforts to improve coaching effectiveness. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about developing young talent through structured, reflective, and data-supported coaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis of Coaching Practices
- Utilize data and performance analysis to evaluate coaching effectiveness.
- Analyze training sessions and matches to identify improvement areas.
- Provide constructive feedback to coaches on styles, communication, and tactics.
- Incorporate reflection into pre- and post-session activities.
- Assist coaches in self-assessment through frameworks, feedback, and video analysis.
- Support coaching sessions with U7-U18 groups, focusing on technical and tactical skills and coach development.
- Integrate insights from sports science, psychology, and analysis to support holistic player development.
- Help define and promote the academy’s coaching philosophy, ensuring consistency and alignment with the club’s vision.
- Stay updated with coaching trends, analysis techniques, and methodologies to enhance skills.
About The Candidate
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in coaching, preferably in an academy setting from pre-academy upwards.
- Currently pursuing a BSc or MSc in sport coaching or similar.
- Ability to analyze training/match footage, data, and coach performance.
- Strong communication skills for coaching support and feedback.
- Training in reflective practices is desirable.
- FA UEFA C, FA Safeguarding, FA EFAIF certifications.
- Familiarity with performance analysis software (e.g., Hudl, SportsCode) is beneficial.
