An exciting opportunity has arisen for Casual Academy Scouts (U7 – U16) with Hull City Academy.

The successful candidates will report to the Head of Academy Recruitment to identify the best available talent within the local catchment area, build relationships with key stakeholders across the community, and embed the Academy’s recruitment values throughout the department. Scouts will be assigned a specific age-range to develop an in-depth knowledge of young players with potential to join Hull City Academy and work within strategic plans to secure the best talent from ages U7-U16.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Scout and identify players who meet the criteria and have potential for Hull City Academy.
  2. Develop a network of contacts in a designated region and the wider football community to enhance knowledge of target players.
  3. Proactively source information about upcoming games, festivals, tournaments, and events locally.
  4. Assist in organizing fixture planning and ensure adequate coverage across the catchment area.
  5. Build positive relationships with grassroots clubs, schools, and private organizations.
  6. Embed the Academy Recruitment values and ensure best practices and protocols are followed.
  7. Identify players aligning with Hull City Academy’s recruitment philosophy across the local area.
  8. Follow standard protocols and procedures at all times.
  9. Log all attended games using the internal tracking system.
  10. Build and maintain a database of potential players with the ability to represent Hull City’s Academy and possibly the First Team.
  11. Submit player and match reports promptly using reporting templates.
  12. Coordinate fixture planning and scout permissions with the Head of Academy Recruitment.
  13. Attend CPD events and meetings as requested.
  14. Develop an understanding of current players to benchmark potential external talent.

What Are We Looking For?

  • FA Safeguarding Certificate
  • Knowledge of youth development rules and regulations for scouting
  • Smart appearance, reliability, and excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Full driving license
  • Technical and tactical understanding of football from coaching, playing, or employment experience
  • Experience in recruitment within a professional football club

This role is subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for safeguarding and welfare of players.

About the Academy

Hull City Academy develops talented young footballers aged 8 to 23, focusing on nurturing potential into first-team players. Since achieving Category Two status in 2015, the Academy has seen many scholars debut for the First Team and transfer to top leagues across Europe. We are expanding our Recruitment Department to include more regional talent, following in the footsteps of notable alumni like Jarrod Bowen, Max Clark, and Keane Lewis-Potter.
