BRFC Academy, however flexibility on location may be required.

Reports to: Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine

Responsible for: Interns and Students as and when required.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties. This may include evening and weekend work.

Contractual status: Permanent

1. Job purpose:

To provide medical diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation to all academy players on a daily basis.

2. Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, promoting their well-being needs while maintaining professional boundaries;
  • Provide medical diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation to all academy players;
  • Provide matchday cover as required;
  • Maintain up-to-date medical records as MCSP;
  • Organise scans and external treatments as required;
  • Ensure all written evidence is current as per EPPP requirements;
  • Liaise daily with all BRFC staff;
  • Create external links as required;
  • Maintain an up-to-date CPD portfolio;
  • Follow best practices and ensure players receive optimal advice;
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times;
  • Assist and lead departmental in-service training;
  • Educate players and parents on injury prevention, injury care, post-match recovery, and drug awareness;
  • Assist in collecting and evaluating psychometric measures and daily physio screens;
  • Assist with cool down, strength, movement re-training, and stretching sessions;
  • Organise and carry out annual cardiac screening;
  • Monitor growth and maturation, manage the longitudinal database, and report to staff;
  • Liaise with international medical staff for YDP players;
  • Assist the Senior Physiotherapist with injury audits;
  • Contribute to other departmental duties as required.

3. Skills required:

  • IT literate;
  • Effective communication with internal and external parties;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to perform group and individual verbal presentations.

About The Candidate

4. Knowledge / Experience required:

  • Knowledge of current sport science and medicine practices, with a focus on sports medicine;
  • Good understanding of safeguarding/child protection policies and procedures;
  • Experience in an elite sporting environment;
  • Knowledge of paediatric physiological development.

5. Qualifications required:

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, HCPC registered (ESSENTIAL);
  • Master\’s Degree in Sports Physiotherapy or a related discipline (DESIRABLE);
