AFC Wimbledon is a professional football club based in South West London, playing its home games at the state-of-the-art Cherry Red Records Stadium, opened in August 2021.
The move to the new stadium marked a pivotal point in the club’s history, returning to its spiritual home at Plough Lane and providing top-level facilities for both matchday and non-matchday events.
We are seeking to recruit an Academy Operations Manager to oversee all football operations within the academy, including strategy, communication, administration, finance, audit, safeguarding, scheduling, and compliance.
This key leadership role involves working closely with the Academy Manager and reporting directly to the Director of Football.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and communicate with the wider club and external partners regarding academy activities.
- Manage logistics for training, fixtures, transport, accommodation, and equipment.
- Line manage the Academy Administrator and casual staff involved in transport and matchday operations.
- Lead the academy’s EPPP audit submissions and management.
- Oversee all administrative functions of the academy.
- Manage the academy calendar and schedules, liaising with stakeholders.
- Oversee the induction and progression process for registered academy players, involving staff collaboration.
- Assist the Academy Manager in leadership and football delivery as needed.
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety protocols are upheld.
- Act as the point of contact for the training ground landlord.
- Manage the academy budget, including approval of expenditures.
- Liaise with parents and external partners.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Operational, administrative, or team management experience within a professional sporting environment.
- Experience with audit processes.
- Experience working within an EPPP academy.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child welfare, and player development systems.
Key Requirements:
- Ability to undertake a DBS check at the appropriate level prior to employment.
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
This is a permanent role, working 35 hours per week.
