Barnsley Council have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Services Field Officer (Tobacco Control) to join the team based in Barnsley. You will join us on a full-time, fixed-term contract for 2 years from appointment. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,711- £37,035 per annum (career graded).

The Regulatory Services Field Officer (Tobacco Control) role: We are excited to be recruiting to the role of Regulatory Service Field Officer in our busy Trading Standards Team, here in Barnsley the place of possibilities. The successful candidate will play an important role in protecting the public, by providing advice to businesses and taking enforcement action in relation to illegal tobacco, illegal vaping products and underage sales.

Your work will help provide essential support and guidance to local businesses as they get to grips with new tobacco and vapes legislation. This new legislation will allow us to keep our children safer with the permanent restrictions on some young people accessing tobacco products, and more generally restricting the sale of vaping products unless they are clearly intended as a smoking cessation aid.

To join us you'll need a level 3 qualification, and previous experience of dealing with the public and businesses. Additional qualifications and the submission of a portfolio will unlock the higher salary scale. You'll bring a commitment to work flexibly, and an appetite for engaging in continuous training and professional development in this rewarding field of work.
