About the Post
Join our team as a Management Support Officer! An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Growth and Sustainability team in Barnsley Council as a Management Support Officer. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive and efficient business support predominantly to the Service Director and Heads of Service within the Regeneration and Culture team, enabling them to fulfil their roles effectively in a highly pressurised working environment.
What You’ll Do
As a Management Support Officer, you will support the Service Director and Heads of Service to enable them to fulfil their role effectively in the context of a highly pressurised working environment. You will take ownership of specific issues within the service, co‑ordinating and monitoring milestones through to resolution. The role specifically involves email and diary management, arranging and servicing meetings (minute‑taking) and taking responsibility for following up actions or projects arising from the meeting. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the capability to produce clear and accurate records of highly confidential and/or contentious information. Your skills in communication, problem‑solving, and maintaining professional standards will be essential in ensuring the success of our team.
What You Need
- Level 3 or equivalent level qualification in an applicable area.
- Extensive business support experience, ideally in local government.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic document management.
- High standards of professionalism, communication and diplomacy.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Flexible in your approach in order to ensure the overall service objectives are achieved, be an excellent team player and willing to make a solid contribution to the smooth running of the service.
