The successful candidate will be required to speak English to an appropriate standard. This post requires a Basic Criminal Record Check. Responsibilities

  • One of the main functions of the Housing Options Team is the prevention of homelessness, rough sleeping and tenancy sustainment.
  • Key areas of work include promoting early intervention and prevention services to reduce homelessness and rough sleeping.
  • Support people to stay in their own home, move in a managed way or resettle after a period of instability.
  • Work closely with partners to address underlying causes of homelessness and address wider support needs.
  • Develop a range of temporary accommodation options and manage a number of temporary accommodation properties, including provision of direct support to residents in temporary accommodation (e.g., Bed and Breakfast and hotels).
  • Undertake tenancy sign ups, manage tenancy-related matters, assist customers to settle in, manage the tenancy and move on to more permanent housing.
  • Involve practical tasks such as furniture replenishment, stock inventory, preparing properties to relet, ensuring utilities are connected and liaising with contractors to minimise void times.

  • Demonstrate high motivation, practicality and organisation in undertaking the role.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a challenging workload under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Use initiative with skills in work prioritisation and time management; strong partnership working is essential for sustainable outcomes.
  • Experience of identifying risk and contributing to support planning processes; able to use a range of questioning techniques and listening skills with empathy to build trust.
  • A flexible approach including elements of home visiting and lone working.
