About The Travel Assistance Service
Our Travel Assistance Service is a lifeline for nearly 1,000 children and adults across the borough. This is an exciting time to join our forward‑thinking, dynamic team as we continue to grow and innovate.
We are currently recruiting Driver Attendants to join our busy, expanding team. In this role, you will provide essential travel assistance for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, ensuring safe journeys between home, school, or college, as well as transport to adult day‑care facilities when required.
What We Offer
- Working Hours: Approximately 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, Monday to Friday, during school term time, approximately 20 hours per week. This is a term time only position, approximately 39 weeks of the year.
- Location: Home to School Depot, John Street, Barnsley.
What We’re Looking For
- A passion for driving and helping others.
- Empathy, patience, and a professional, polite manner when supporting children and adults with special needs.
- A full UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Category D1 on your licence (essential for driving up to a 16‑seat minibus).
- A Driver CPC is desirable, but if you don’t have one, we would support you to obtain it.
