The role of Community Safety Warden supports the Safer Neighbourhood Service, focusing on community safety, anti‑social behaviour, environmental crime, and blight. Work will be based in Barnsley town centre and surrounding townships.
Working Arrangements
- 37 hours a week, including weekend and unsociable hours.
- Three working patterns are available.
- Salary: £31,537 - £34,434 per annum.
- Contract: 4 permanent slots and 1 fixed‑term until 31 July 2026.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with community members and stakeholders to reduce crime and anti‑social behaviour.
- Investigate and prosecute environmental crime across the borough.
- Engage proactively with those involved in anti‑social behaviour, identify those responsible and submit safeguarding referrals where vulnerabilities are identified.
- Discharge summary enforcement powers in a proportionate and professional manner, including any powers delegated by the Chief Constable.
- Assist in planning, preparation and execution of targeted initiatives such as campaigns and deployment approaches.
- All wardens are trained as Forward Liaison Officers and may be required to work alternative shifts in response to unforeseen community incidents or crisis.
