About the Role
Childcare Sufficiency Officer supports the council’s duty to ensure sufficient high‑quality childcare for early years and school‑age children. Responsibilities include:
- Gathering data, conducting visits to childcare providers and engaging parents and carers across the borough.
- Analysing childcare availability using statistical methods.
- Preparing and presenting reports on sufficiency levels to senior management.
- Collaborating with partners, businesses and community organisations to strengthen local childcare provision.
- Supporting local children and families in accessing appropriate childcare.
Qualifications & Skills
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
- Experience/working knowledge of the childcare sector.
- Strong analytical and IT skills, with proficiency in data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships and engage stakeholders.
- Confidence in travelling across the borough.
Requirements
- Basic Criminal Record Check required.
- English language proficiency to an appropriate standard.
- Provision of required legal documents such as a valid visa if applicable; no sponsorship available.
