Why Join Us

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of data‑led decision making in Barnsley.

We’ve been working hard as an organisation to ensure data is recognised as a strategic asset and redefining how we use our data. To enable this, we’ve launched a new operating model for Business Intelligence built on the principles of enabling Barnsley – encouraging innovation, empowering services to self‑serve, and allowing our BI experts to focus on high‑impact work.

Our work has earned recognition from government departments and national bodies and we’re proud to be seen as a centre of excellence.

We’re excited to be moving to Microsoft Fabric, unlocking possibilities for single view and end‑to‑end analysis, automation and scalable insight delivery. Our team is already embracing Copilot and other AI‑driven tools, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in local government intelligence.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and delivery of performance dashboards, predictive models and data visualisations that inform strategic and operational priorities.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement, helping services unlock the power of their own data.
  • Deliver insights that provide hindsight, insight, and foresight, supporting evidence‑based decisions aligned to the Council Plan and Barnsley 2030.
