Barnsley Council have an exciting opportunity for six Technicians to join the team based in Barnsley. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,584 - £33,366 (Career Grade).

The Technician role:
- As a Technician, you’ll be part of a structured development programme, working across various highways disciplines.
- You’ll gain hands-on experience in areas like highway design, construction, traffic management, and strategic transport planning.
- From using CAD software to delivering real-world projects, you’ll be making a difference from day one.
What will you study?
- You’ll be enrolled on the Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship (ST0046). This course typically runs for 36 months and includes:
- One day per week release to attend college in Leeds
- A blend of classroom learning and practical application
- Development of technical knowledge in design, surveying, construction, and project delivery
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., BTEC, A or T Levels, or equivalent)
- Willingness to undertake a Level 4 qualification in Engineering
- Strong IT and communication skills
- A passion for learning and contributing to your community
