The Public Health Nursing Service in Barnsley is seeking a qualified Health Visitor to deliver the Healthy Child Programme. This role requires a commitment to evidence‑based care that promotes health, reduces inequalities, and safeguards children, young people and families. You will assess health needs, plan and implement interventions, support families with complex needs, manage risk, undertake safeguarding duties, and collaborate with multi‑agency partners.
Responsibilities

- Lead public health initiatives, mentor colleagues and students, and maintain high standards of clinical governance.

- Travel as required within the service area and adapt to changing environments.
Qualifications
- Qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) with a Level 6 or above qualification.
- Experience working in a community setting delivering public health programmes and safeguarding vulnerable children and families.
- Strong communication, organisational and decision‑making skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
- Sound understanding of the Healthy Child Programme, safeguarding policies and clinical governance.
- For experienced practitioners: significant post‑qualification experience, mentoring skills, and the ability to manage complex cases.
- Ability to speak English to an appropriate standard and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check (and overseas criminal records check if applicable).
