Overview
As the first Registered Manager in Barnsley’s expanding residential care programme, you will lead a new children’s home from inception through opening and ongoing operation. You’ll shape service delivery, recruit and develop a team, manage budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will build partnerships with agencies and the community, chair planning meetings, and influence the wider residential portfolio. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and overall management of the home to meet Children’s Homes Regulations and standards
- Develop staffing rota, recruit safely, supervise staff, manage performance and training (PDRs)
- Create and implement the home’s service plan and manage the budget
- Maintain accurate records and reporting systems
- Represent the service in internal/external settings and build partnerships with agencies and local communities
- Chair planning meetings and case reviews, prepare reports as needed
- Report to the Service Manager for the residential portfolio and contribute to wider service development
Key requirements
- Substantial experience in social care with children/young people, including management level in residential settings
- Experience managing staff and budgets
- Experience partnering with other agencies, children, young people and parents
- Experience managing change in the work environment
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies, SCCIF, relevant legislation, national policy on looked after children, and Ofsted requirements for residential care
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and children’s developmental and emotional needs
- Commitment to working towards Level 5 Diploma if not already held
