In this voluntary role, you support young people, families and victims within Referral Order Panels that implement restorative justice. You represent the community to help repair harm and prevent reoffending, while working with the Youth Justice Team to guide positive choices. Panels are typically in the evenings or virtually, with in-person meetings possible later. You will receive training and ongoing support to contribute to safer, offender-focused outcomes in Barnsley.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to Referral Order Panels
  • listen to young people, families and sometimes victims to inform the agreement
  • represent the community and support measurable steps to prevent reoffending
  • apply restorative principles in discussions and decisions
  • participate in virtual panels (Microsoft Teams) and potential in-person meetings
  • complete training and engage in ongoing professional development
  • coordinate with the Youth Justice Team and wider partners
