Successful candidate must speak English to an appropriate standard. This post requires an Enhanced DBS Check. Applicants must hold valid UK visa or citizenship; the council does not sponsor visas.

Hosted by the Sport and Physical Activity Team on behalf of the Active in Barnsley Partnership, this role will work within local communities, liaising with Area Council teams and other services to promote and coordinate activities that increase physical activity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the South Area Council Area to ensure “Moving More” reaches as many people as possible.
  • Co‑create, coordinate and promote activities that increase physical activity levels.
  • Engage with local groups, partners and statutory services.
  • Collect and act upon community views to influence health and wellbeing programmes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the council and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience of community development or engagement.
  • Knowledge of factors that enable or hinder physical activity.
  • Strong partnership working skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a range of environments.
  • Understanding of how physical activity benefits individuals and communities.
